I called this moment Blank Page because I recognize in this beginning an essential part of my artistic practice. I bring images, memories, learning and concerns to the page. Some find a form; others change as I work. It is in this encounter between what I bring and what happens through making that I often discover a way forward. Painting, drawing and digital media have allowed me to explore different ways of giving form to ideas. Teaching brings other perspectives into this journey: accompanying someone as they discover a connection, hesitate over a choice or find a solution also leads me to reconsider what I think I know.
A first exploration of creating an image from a prompt. Just as this post marks the beginning of the blog, this experiment opens up a field of possibilities: words as a starting point for visual creation.
I want to bring something of this process into this monologue: sharing works, experiences, references and questions, making space for what is under construction. I am interested in how a personal experience, encountered through someone else’s eyes, can take on meanings I may not yet have recognized myself.
This first post also marks a passage: from thought to words, from experience to sharing. Just as I do when drawing, I begin with what I have and discover, through making, how to continue.
